The Scan PA Project is a program whose goals are to promote libraries as trusted repositories for local history and culture, remove barriers to digitizing local information, and to extend digitizing services to material owned by the public. Patrons can make an appointment with the Reference department to bring their photos, negatives, slides and VCR home movies to be converted to a digital file format. This service is free but patrons must provide a flash drive or external hard drive for files to be stored.
In addition, documents and photos pertaining to Johnstown area local history can be brought to the library to be scanned and preserved on the Power Library: PA Photos and Documents website. Certain restrictions apply. Please contact a Reference librarian at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 814-536-5131 x212 to schedule a scanning appointment or for more details.
