Take our Read Woke Challenge and learn more about yourself and others in our community. This challenge was created by award-winning librarian Cicely Lewis, who describes the Read Woke movement:

“It is a feeling. It is a style. It is a form of education. It is a call to action; it is our right as lifelong learners. It means arming yourself with knowledge in order to better protect your rights. Knowledge is power and no one can take it away. It means learning about others so that you can treat people with the respect and dignity that they deserve no matter their religion, race, creed, or color.”

Registration begins November 1 at cclsys.beanstack.org or on the Beanstack Tracker App. There are reading activities for adults, teens and children, with books that challenge the status quo and social norms, have a protagonist from an underrepresented or oppressed group, or give a voice to the voiceless.

The Read Woke Challenge will run through the month of November. All those completing the required activities will be entered into prize drawing at the end of the challenge!
