In January 2022, Cambria County Library is launching a new program, Morning Reveille.

Veterans of any era are invited to the twice-monthly breakfast and discussion session in our Community Room. Coffee, juice, and pastries are provided. No registration is required to join and guests can join at any time during the breakfast.

Cambria County Library is introducing this program as part of our commitment to connecting our community to resources that educate, entertain, and empower. The library has partnered with other veteran and military based groups in the past, including Operation Paperback. Operation Paperback helped the library send books to active military personnel. Several staff members are veterans or have veterans in their family. Due to the Covid pandemic, the library has seen a need over the last few months to help connect people with shared histories.

“Being able to discuss military life with other veterans can be a very important thing for people”, said Ashley N. Flynn, Library Director. “The shutdown has made it difficult to meet others who have shared experiences. We wanted this program to help connect veterans in a way that they may have trouble finding elsewhere right now.

The library has other programs to engage visitors socially, including popular programs for seniors. Programs like Senior Crafternoons, MahJong Club, and Hooked on Crochet help people meet others and enjoy various crafts and games throughout the month.

Morning Reveille will be held the first and third Tuesday every month from 9 am – 11 am in the Community Room at the library.
A list of all programs can be found on the Event Calendar, or on the library’s main landing page. For questions, please call the library at 814-536-5131.
