Analyzing the Myths and Legacy of the Brown Paper Bag Test: A Discussion with artist Ashley A. Jones

Artist Ashley A. Jones will be discussing her artwork and research on identity and colorism in the African American community and her experiences as a Black artist in Pennsylvania. This program will include conversation on regional art and its impact on the Southwestern PA community.
Ashley A. Jones is an artist currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received a BA in studio art from Central State University in Ohio and an MFA in drawing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she formerly served as an Assistant Professor of Art and as the Director of the University’s Kipp Gallery. Currently, Jones serves as an art faculty member at St. Edmund’s Academy in Pittsburgh. Jones’ work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is in numerous private and museum collections.
