Getting Involved

Volunteer at the Highland Community Library

The Highland Community Library welcomes volunteers to help with different tasks, including assisting with or providing storytime and Summerquest programs. Volunteers are also needed to help with library operations, including shelving books, cleaning, and other tasks as needed.

Volunteers should reach out to the Highland Community Library director to discuss how to help the library.

All volunteers aged 18 and older will be required to complete PATCH and Child Abuse History Clearance background checks. These clearances are free to volunteers and can be completed on the PATCH Website and the PA Child Welfare Website. Volunteers do not need to obtain federal background checks that require fingerprinting.

Donating Items to the Highland Community Library

The Highland Community Library welcomes donations from the public, with a few limitations. The Highland Community Library will accept books, dvds, and other media that are in a clean

undamaged state. Items cannot be torn or have mildew, stains, or other forms of damage.

The Highland Community Library cannot accept textbooks, medical texts, dictionaries or encyclopedias. Items must be donated directly to the library, and cannot be dropped off outside of library hours.

Donating Items for the Highland Community Library Basket Raffle.

The library begins to accept basket item donations in July each year. All types of items are accepted with the exception of alcohol. Items do not have to be in completed baskets to be donated to the library.

Donating Items for the Highland Community Library Open House and Book Sale

Items for the Book Sale will be accepted in a clean, undamaged condition. Items are accepted from September up to the date of the Lilly-Washington Open House.
