POSITION: Technology Administrator

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

FUNCTION:

Provide and maintain a stable and reliable distributed computing environment by identifying system and network requirements, installing systems/upgrades, and monitoring system and network performance. Provide innovative, timely, reliable, and secure technology services and support; to provide business value through understanding, knowledge, communication, agility, and a strong customer focus; and to provide outstanding customer service to all end users.

DUTIES:

  1. Sets up user accounts, permissions, and passwords. Assists in the maintenance of privileged accounts, according to Policy.
  2. Maintains the directory services and productivity software environment to optimize the operation and security of the computing environment.
  3. Manage and facilitate the procurement, build, deployment, and maintenance of end-user computing and mobile device hardware, ensuring assets are appropriately tracked.
  4. Manage the Company’s software licensing and compliance.
  5. Communicate frequently with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, and other staff regarding open issues and problem escalation.
  6. Coordinate resolution of complex issues with system and software vendors.
  7. Develop, implement, and maintain a BC/DR (Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery) program for the Library.
  8. Ensure an appropriate level of urgency is applied to various support activities and initiatives. Plan, organize, coordinate, maintain, and ensure effective onsite and remote client support services for desktop computers, software, telephones etc. to deliver exceptional customer service. Ensure all issues are quickly addressed, resolved, and well documented.
  9. Assist the Executive Director in the development of the annual operating plan to support the IT and Library’s strategic plans. Also assist the Executive Director in the development of an annual operating budget, capital requests, and monitor budget compliance.
  10. Ensure Change Management policies, procedures, and best practices are followed, and that quality documentation is created and maintained.
  11. Assist the Executive Director with strategic technology planning by performing the following functions: a. Evaluate solutions and develop proposals for system enhancement and/or replacement. b. Achieve operational efficiencies through creative and cost-effective implementation of innovative technologies.
  12. Continually enhance personal IT skills and keep current with technology and systems through continued education and obtain appropriate certifications, as directed by the Executive Director.
  13. Maintain a good working relationship with all Library employees.
  14. Assist in researching modern technologies and provides support in proof-of-concept efforts.
  15. Develop procedural documentation and contribute to policies relating to assigned duties.
  16. Provide training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence.
  17. Manage email, email security, servers, virtual environment, network devices, virus protection, patch management, and vulnerability management.
  18. Maintain network devices, application, and operating system software in accordance with established change management practices.
  19. Assist in managing the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery capability and plans related to servers and mission critical, client server-based applications.
  20. Maintain infrastructure and network-related documentation, such as network diagrams, network addressing schemes, and configurations.
  21. Provide input through testing and recommending security configurations to maintain a secure yet flexible computing environment.
  22. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field with at least two (2) years’ experience supporting a PC/LAN environment. Required Associate’s degree in an IT-related field and at least four (4) years’ experience supporting a PC/LAN environment. Preferred technical network-related certification, such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Cisco CCT or CCNA.
