Cresson Public Library Director

The Cresson Public Library is looking for a new director!

This library serves a small, rural community of about 4,000 people.

Duties

The Library Director chooses, orders, and catalogs all library materials (books, DVD’s, periodicals, etc.); keeps accurate records of all library purchases and other financial matters; assists patrons in finding library materials and in using computers; develops and runs library programs, such as story hour for preschoolers; fills out annual and other reports for district and state library systems; markets the library to the community; cooperates with district library and library board.

The director must do general office duties including providing fax and copy service to the public.

Requirements

The director needs strong people skills, excellent organizational habits, ability to switch quickly between tasks and to multi-task, a pleasant personality, and a love for reading since patrons frequently ask for book recommendations. The librarian must attend Cambria County Library and Johnstown Library District meetings, and cooperate with policies and procedures as part of the system and district.

The position will require an Assistant Librarian certification and will require 60 credits of college education and a willingness to obtain an additional 9 credits in Library Science courses within 2 years of hire.

The position is 30 hours per week.
