The Cresson Public Library is looking for a new director!

This library serves a small, rural community of about 4,000 people.

The small-town library is looking for a director. The position requires an associate’s degree; a bachelor’s degree and some library experience are preferred. The hiree will be required to get 9 credits in library science.

The library director chooses, orders, and catalogs all library materials (books, DVDs, periodicals, etc.); keeps accurate records of all library purchases and other financial matters; assist patrons in finding library materials and in using computers; develops and runs library programs, such as story hour for preschoolers; fills out annual and other reports for district and state library systems; markets the library to the community; cooperate with district library and library board.

The director must do general office duties including providing fax and copy service to the public.

The librarian needs strong people skills, excellent organizational habits, ability to switch quickly between tasks and to multi task, a pleasant personality, and a love for reading since patrons frequently ask for book recommendations. The librarian must attend meetings at the Johnstown library and cooperate with all of their policies.

The position is approximately 30 hours a week.
