Help build our community
Dear Library Friend:
She bounded into the library and said, “Hi! This was an awesome read! I’m so glad you recommended it!” A few minutes later, another woman came through the door with a huge grin: “I’m here for my date!” She’d loved her “Blind Date with a Book” last year so much that she came back again to play. While she was here, she helped a patron select a book and talked her into choosing a blind date, too.
This is the kind of spontaneous connection that happens at Cresson Public Library all the time. A child comes up to the desk and asks, “Do you have any more eyeballs?” and the librarian replies, “Of course I do!,” heading off to find the googly eyes for the craft table. A mom tells us her daughter is “OBSESSED” with a book series she discovered here. These moments remind us that the library is still a place for curiosity, playfulness, and community.
Behind those everyday scenes is a very real challenge. Like many rural public libraries, Cresson Public Library operates on a lean budget. Municipal and state funding cover only a small portion of what it takes to keep the doors open, update collections, provide programs, and maintain a welcoming space. The rest comes from donors like you who believe that a thriving library matters in a town like ours.

Your gift this year will help us:
- Keep our shelves stocked with books and resources patrons request
- Offer free, innovative programs for children, teens, and adults
- Maintain a comfortable space where patrons can read, study, connect, and go on “blind dates”
Our goal for this year’s Annual Fund is $25,000. Reaching this amount will allow us to update our technology, add to our collection, offer special programming, and cover rising operating costs. We hope you’ll consider making a gift of any amount that feels right to you.
Please use the enclosed envelope, visit https://www.cclsys.org/cresson/, or stop by the library to make your 2026 donation. When you choose to give, you are helping create more moments of joy, discovery, and connection that mean so much to our community.
Sincerely,
Carly Luther,
Board President
