Join us for a talk and Q&A with Christopher Cook Ph.D., Associate Professor of Political Science at Pitt-Johnstown, to learn more about the history of Israel and Palestine and get your questions answered.
In order to fully understand the events of October 7, 2023 in Israel, this talk will discuss several key historical events and main actors in the conflict, including:
• The creation of the state of Israel and the Occupied Territories of the West Bank and Gaza (after the 1967 Six Day’s War)
• Israeli domestic politics under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud Party
• Palestinian politics under the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and the creation of Hamas
