About the workshops:
For those looking to brush up on their computer skills, enter or advance in the workplace, or earn various career-oriented skills and certificates, Northern Cambria Public Library will be hosting a series of digital literacy and workforce development workshops.
Pa. CareerLink of Cambria County will hold four series of workshops at the library on Thursdays from 11 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. on December 1 and 15, 2022, and January 5 and 19, 2023. These workshops will be split up into two sessions: the first hour (11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and a half will be dedicated to digital literacy and career development, and the second (1:30-2:20 p.m.) will be dedicated to earning certificates through the SkillUp Learning program. Participants are not required to, but may, attend both sessions.
Schedule
The workshop sessions (11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) learning itinerary is as follows:
Dec. 1 – Word Processors and resume building
Dec. 15 – Online Community Job Searching
Jan. 5 – 55+ years of age and the modern job force
Jan. 19 – Second round of Online Community Job Searching.
Skillup Sessions (1:30-2:20 p.m.)
SkillUp is Pennsylvania’s learning program where participants engage in courses to obtain job-related skills and earn certificates to add to their resumes. The first Skillup session through this workshop will help participants earn their Digital Literacy Certificate.
This program is limited to 10 participants per session and is free and open to the public. To sign up, or for more information, please call the library at 814-948-8222 or stop in and speak with staff. When signing up, please indicate which dates and sessions you will be attending, to ensure space is open for as many people as possible.
