South Fork Public Library’s History
South Fork has had a library since 1966, as a result of a Women’s Club project, headed by the late Louise Dimond. The first location was in the basement of the former Lutheran Church on Grant Street. The present site, 320 Main Street, was purchased from Joe Dolan about 1969. This building formerly housed the Sugar Bowl, Vancheri’s Barber Shop and Sam Dolan’s Jewelry Store. The Library is part of the Cambria County Library System, which is headquartered in the David A. Glosser Memorial Library in Johnstown. South Fork Public Library has over 9,000 volumes of catalogued items available for the public to borrow.
