Lorrie Smith

Library Director

Lorrie has been the director of the Beaverdale Public Library since 2015. Lorrie is a certified Library Technical Assistant through Northampton Community College. Lorrie is specializing in Family History Research at Brigham Young University. Lorrie is passionate about genealogy and family history and looks forward to helping patrons with their research! 

Mary Adams

Library Assistant

Mary is a retired elementary school teacher. She has always enjoyed owrking with people. She and her husband still farm and sell fruits and vegetables. Mary enjoys reading, knitting, paint-by-number, and practice her piano in her spare time.

Melinda Jerome

Library Assistant

Melinda has been employed at the library since 2012. Appreciates the friendships that she made through working here. It gives her great satisfaction to talk about books and knowing what our patrons enjoy reading..It’s like Christmas or my birthday when the new best sellers come out for the month and we get them into the hands of our awaiting patrons.Melinda enjoys reading, knitting and book clubs,her Westie, the beach, and traveling with friends and family.

Eileen Kuhn

Library Assistant

Eileen enjoys working with children and adults in the library and in helping you find that “just right” book or material that you are looking for. Outside of work, she likes to bake, container garden, read and spend time with family and friends.

Our Board of Directors

Paul Bonfanti

Board President

Paul is Chief of Police of the Summerhill Twp. Police Department having over 40 years in law enforcement. Paul is also a member of the Cambria County SERT team as an Negotiator, a member and instructor for the Laurel Highlands Crisis Intervention Team and a counselor for the Southern Alleghenies EMS Council Critical Incident Stress Management  Team. He has dictated a large part of his life volunteering and is also a life member and long time past President of the Summerhill Township Volunteer Fire Company and also serves on the Board of the Forest Hills Municipal Authority. In his spare time Paul loves to hunt, fish and loves Pittsburgh sports and Penn State.

Denise Boring Rehner

Vice President

Denise is the vice president and has been on the board of directors for many years. She enjoys reading, knitting , and camping.

 

 

Cara Ferrante

Secretary

Cara M. Ferrante is a CPA and Manager at Wessel and Company with 10 years of service at the firm. She has a B.S. in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University and a Minor in the Legal Environment of Business. She currently serves as the Treasurer for both the Cambria County Library and the Beaverdale Public Library. Cara spent her summers visiting the Beaverdale Public Library as a child where her mother also served as the Treasurer for a few years. She enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and volleyball.

Mary Kuzilla

Trustee

Mary Kuzilla was appointed to the board of the Beaverdale Public Library in 2019. She has also been serving as a VITA volunteer for income tax preparation at the Beaverdale Library. Mary has strong ties to the library, being born a daughter of the late Victor and Veronica Maslar, both of whom dedicated countless hours to the realization of the current Beaverdale Library.  Mary retired from the Dept of Labor after serving the Federal Government for 39 years, most recently as a Claims Examiner.  She is presently enjoying assisting with library research, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Katie Respet

Trustee

Katie Respet was appointed to the Board of the Beaverdale Library in 2019.  She graduated from Lock Haven University  with a BS-ed in secondary education.  She holds a degree from St. Francis University   with a BSN and is also a graduate in Anesthesia from UMPC Altoona.  Her most recent employment was at IRMC in Indiana PA.  Volunteer work is an important part of her life.  She has volunteered on many International medial teams.Currently she serves on the board of Penn State Extension and holds a leadership role in the Master Gardening Program.

Janet Smith

Trustee

Janet was appointed to the Library Board in December of 2022.  She has been serving as a VITA volunteer for income tax preparation since 2020.  She retired in 2018 having last worked as an adjuster for Inservco Insurance Services.   Prior to working in the insurance industry she spent many years working as a paralegal; and before that as a self-employed court stenographer.   She was appointed and held the commission of Notary Public for the Commonwealth of PA from 1980 to 2020.
