Borrowing Devices
Portage Public Library offers devices for the public to check out and use at home. These devices require a form to be completed and on-file with the library prior to borrowing.
All devices can be checked out for two weeks at a time. Renewal is subject to availability and items do not automatically renew. For items that are not checked back in by their due date, a daily fine of $2.00 per day will be issues per device. Patrons must place their items on hold in advance. Patrons have two days to pick up their device if it is on hold for them. If a device is not picked up once it is available, the hold will be cancelled and a new hold will need to be placed.
Chromebooks and Tablets
Chromebooks and tablets are great devices for homework, research, and job seeking. These devices require the internet to use. Chromebooks do not allow information to be saved on them and users should use a USB drive to save any information they want to retain after using the Chromebooks. Apps cannot be downloaded on to Chromebooks or Tablets except by the library.
Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots
HotSpots are devices that provide an internet connection for smart devices, including cell phones, tablets, Chromebooks and laptops. HotSpots may not provide services in all areas and the library cannot gaurantee service in any area.
